Faster? Not so much!

Faster (2010) is a not as enticing as its title may seem, the action crime drama is slow and filled with unnecessary plot holes that distract from what the audience expects from the film. The story is about a character simply known as Driver, played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson" who is on a mission to avenge the death of his brother who was murdered in a botched bank robbery. He is pursued by two men, one a cop played by Billy Bob Thornton a man who is rough around the edges to say the least. The other man is a hitman played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen who is struggling to decide whether to start a new life or to continue on with his life of murder. The Driver spends the movie searching much of the west coast for what he considers to be people who are responsible for the death of his brother.

Honestly?
Faster starts out looking like the film that most action fans love, fast paced, little dialogue, and full of Michael Bay style explosions. What it actually delivers is a sub par film that tries to be more then just another action film. The Writers tried to implement some kind of humanity into characters that are supposed to lack any depth. The action, or what little action there actually is pretty good, the driving scenes are done really well, with the pursuit between The Driver and The Killer taking the cake. As for combat every altercation between The Driver and one of his targets are done well enough that if The Killer had talked less the film might have been saved. In closing the film wasn't worth the price of admission to the theater, Rent this film from a dispenser and dont pay more then a dollar.
The Driver

The Driver, the main focus of the film shows to much sympathy throughout the film. This makes him not only bounce between mindless killer and disgruntled postal worker but makes "The Rock" sink back into his family friendly character that can be seen in such forgettable films like, The Game Plan(2007) and The Tooth Fairy(2010). A man that is on a mission to kill multipul people doesn't stop to call some ones kid, he just kills people until hes done and he sure as hell doesn't look like hes gonna cry throughout the film. The Driver was a character that was set up to be one of the coolest action heros of the year, instead his performance could be trumped by Ben Affleck. How Does that feel Dwayne, Ben Affleck the guy from Gigli(2003) was cooler then you.

The Cop

The Cop, Portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton was the best character in the whole film, nopt only does Billy Bob live up to the role, he kills it. Then again it isn't a far stretch for Billy Bob Thornton to play a sleezbag. The character has a good back story that plays along well with the plot, unlike The Killer his scenes seem to lure you into the film. Always smoking a cigarett he feels like a cross between a 70's buddy cop and a 70's porn star, his hair seems to be fleeting and his drug problem seems to show the more the film goes on.

The Killer

The Killer is by far the worst character from the film, his scenes in the film have no relevancy to the overall plot of the film. His girlfriend and her story line seem like something that should have never left the cutting room floor. His constant correspondence with a therapist takes away from the fast paced action of the rest of the film.
